I made this resource to encourage choicemaking during computer time. I use the computer programs found on the Priory Woods School website http://priorywoods.web4.devwebsite.co.uk) in which the children enjoy very much. I would print out two copies, one to make cards and one for the board, I would velcro the cards to the board.

For those times when you don’t mind them having McDonalds, this page would encourage them to choose the range of foods McDonalds has to offer. I usually cut and laminate these symbols, I know its time consuming but it is worth it, and use it for PECS (Picture exchange communication system). If they are non-verbal I would get them to use a sentence strip and use it to hand it over to the person at the till. With practise, they grow comfortable in doing so.

I usually laminate this page and send it home on Fridays so that the parents can go through with the child of what they did. I would also go through it with the child on Mondays when it is returned.

This was a rating scale I developed for my students who were working on basic conversational skills. It is an informal assessment, but gives you great data. You can do it as an observation or have the student practice their skills with a typically developing peer or staff member rates them. Cue cards are included (pictures were used from the do2learn.com freebie section).
